Each Sunday the Methodists will worship together with the Anglicans here at St. Mary’s. This is a major step forward in the formation of our new Ecumenical Church.
At St. Mary’s we worship God in many different ways, but with the same message. Please join us at any service that matches your thinking for today.
Usual monthly services:
Sunday 8.30am
A quiet and reflective said Communion Service, lasting about 45 minutes. [1st & 3rd Sunday BCP; 2nd & 4th Sunday Common Worship]
Sunday 10.30am
First Sunday in the month is an All Age Service, which is very informal and our children stay in church. This service lasts no longer than 45 minutes.
Second & fourth Sunday - Family Communion Service with a crèche in the side chapel and junior church for the over 5’s in Church House. Third Sunday - Service of the Word where the emphasis is on understanding what God has to say to us. At this service we have Baptisms too.
Sunday 6.30pm
First Sunday is a Communion Service. This is a traditional service, and usually lasts about an hour. Second, Third & Fourth Sundays - Evensong, which again is fairly traditional, occasionally BCP and lasts for about an hour.
Wednesday 10.30am
A midweek Communion service which lasts for about 40 mins.
Please stay for coffee/tea and biscuits after 10.30 and 6.30 services.
Rejoice every two months at 6.30 pm on Saturday. A new contemporary worship service for people who like to sing God's praises.
Prayer On Monday, Thursday and Friday morning at 8.00am Andrew is in church for an informal prayer time which lasts for about 20-30minutes. This happens on Saturday too, at 9.00am
As a church we believe that the Bible speaks to us today clearly about God and about ourselves. At each service there will be a talk or sermon, which will link the teachings of God’s work to our everyday life.
Saturday Opening Our church is open for visitors and private prayer every Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please drop in for a chat and a cup of tea or just to sit quietly away from the busyness of daily life.
Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
