Bible Readings

Here are some suggestions for suitable Bible readings [under construction]

The words to the Lord’s Prayer (always include this in the service order)
Our Father who art in heaven….

What else could you include? Everything! Titles of readings, names of readers, names of entry and exit music, names of best man, bridesmaid etc….

Top Tips!

Let the Vicar read a proof copy to check order and hymn words (email it to us if easier)

If a choir is involved print some extra basic copies for them.

Hymns

Here are some suggestions for suitable hymns and lyrics [under construction]

Suggested Additional Music (Appropriate music on CD can be used at any time)

For when the bride comes into church.

Free samples on — www.classicalwedding.co.uk

  • Arrival of the Queen of Sheba—Handel
  • Jesus, joy of man’s desiring—Bach
  • Trumpet Voluntary—Stanley

For when the married couple leave the church

  • Wedding march from A Midsummer Night’s Dream—Medelssohn.
  • Toccata from symphony 5—Widor

During the signing of the register

Depending how many photos you have taken at this stage, depends on how much music you need. Average of 3-4 songs. The organist can always fill in the silence!

Organist can play a selection of tunes.

Organist and choir can sing.

Guest musician you arrange can play/sing.

Appropriate CD music can be played

After the Service: Photographers and Photographs

To have good memories of your wedding as well as good photographs here’s a few necessaries –
*Photos are not allowed during the Service. Please inform your photographer of this when you plan your photographs.
*Photos will be allowed during the signing of the register under the direction of the Vicar
*The professional photographer and guests can take photos of the newly married couple as they process out of Church at the end of the service.
*We recommend the professional photographer pops into the church before the service to have a word with the Vicar conducting the ceremony.
*You are more then welcome to come back into church to do as many ‘set up’ shots as you like, using the nice windows and candles etc.
This is all so that nothing distracts us from the words we are saying or interfere with this act of worship.

Flowers

Feel free to pop into our church and have a good look around as to where you might like to put flowers.
If you want to use a florist let us know when they will need the church open to set everything up. We do have stands they can use. The florists usually plan to take the flowers with you to the reception.
If you would prefer some simple arrangements in church that can be left in our able team of flower arrangers can put something nice together. They may ask for a donation to the cost of the flowers.

Once you have considered what to have in your service you will be asked to complete a Marriage Checklist

Final Top Tip

Spend good quality time together planning for your marriage not just the service, chat about your hopes and dreams and any worries you may have! Avoid reading bridal magazines; they can potentially drive you mad!!
